The City and County of Broomfield announced on March 11 that a public hearing will be held to discuss the use of seized funds in accordance with federal and state guidelines. The meeting is scheduled for March 17 at 9:00 am in the Chief’s Conference Room at the Broomfield Police Department, located at 7 DesCombes Drive, Broomfield, Colorado.

The purpose of the hearing is to review how seized funds are spent while ensuring compliance with federal guidelines under 21 U.S.C. 881 (e)(3) and Colorado Revised Statutes § 16-13-702. These regulations require that such funds support law enforcement operations, activities, or training.

The committee overseeing this process includes Chief of Police Enea Hempelmann, Finance Director Graham Clark, Assistant District Attorney Jess Redman from the 17th Judicial District, and Assistant City and County Attorney Cristina Peña Corchado. The group will examine expenditures to ensure they align with legal requirements.
