Broomfield Police Department opens registration for summer teen academy

The Broomfield Police Department has opened registration for its Teen Academy, which will take place from June 2 to June 6, 2025. The program is designed to give teenagers a chance to learn about the various roles within the police department and interact with officers.

The academy will run daily from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Broomfield Police Department, located at 7 DesCombes Drive. Participants will have the opportunity to experience different aspects of law enforcement, including SWAT, crime scene investigation, K-9 units, school resource officers, investigations, and detention.

According to organizers, “The Teen Academy provides an opportunity for understanding and interacting with members of the Police Department to enhance partnerships within the community. BPD – Inside Teen Academy is designed to be a fun interactive way for teens to learn about the various dynamic functions of the Broomfield Police Department. Teens can experience what it’s like to be a police officer and explore the vast array of opportunities available in law enforcement, such as SWAT, crime scene investigation, K-9, school resource officer, investigations, or detention.”

Registration is required for all participants. In addition to signing up in advance, teens must submit a signed waiver by the first day of the academy. A background check will also be conducted before acceptance into the program is confirmed.
