The Colorado Buffaloes men’s track and field team earned First Team All-American honors on Mar. 13 at the NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships in Fayetteville, Arkansas, after their distance medley relay squad finished eighth overall.

The recognition highlights a strong showing for the Buffaloes, who entered the meet ranked No. 12 nationally in the event. The quartet of TJ Hansen, Danny Tragarz, Drew Costelow, and Justine Kipkoech stayed competitive throughout the race before Kipkoech anchored the team to a top-eight finish.

Isaiah Givens also represented Colorado in the men’s mile preliminaries. Givens ran a season-best time of 3:57.76 but finished 11th overall, narrowly missing advancement to the final by just one spot as the last qualifying time was 3:57.48. In women’s competition, Avery Pearson competed in the 800 meters and posted one of her strongest performances of the season with a time of 2:02.92. Despite finishing sixth overall across two heats, Pearson did not advance to the eight-runner final due to automatic qualifying spots being awarded to runners from another heat.

The day began with Givens aiming for a return to the NCAA final after placing fifth last year. He remained competitive throughout his heat but ultimately missed out on advancing when times were combined across both heats. Pearson’s effort in her preliminary was similarly close; she battled through a physical race but was edged out by qualification rules that favored other competitors.

Colorado concluded its indoor season with these performances at Randal Tyson Track Center. The team’s achievements included strong individual efforts and an All-American relay finish that capped off their campaign.
