University of Colorado men’s basketball head coach Tad Boyle announced the team’s 2025-26 season awards on March 8 during a celebration at the CU Events Center.
The announcement highlighted the achievements of several players over the past season. Isaiah Johnson and Barrington Hargress were named co-recipients of the Chauncey Billups Award as Most Valuable Players, marking the first time this honor has been shared. Johnson is also noted as the first freshman to win the award since McKinley Wright IV began his four-year MVP streak in 2017-18.
Johnson led the team with an average of 17.0 points per game, setting a new freshman scoring record for Colorado with 526 points. He also led in free throws made and attempted, three-pointers made, and steals, while ranking second in assists and three-point percentage. Nationally, Johnson is third among freshmen in scoring within the Big 12 Conference and fifteenth in the nation.
Hargress led Colorado in assists (136), overall shooting percentage (.531), three-point percentage (.495), and field goals made (163). He was second on the team in scoring with an average of 14.1 points per game. Hargress leads both the Big 12 Conference and ranks tenth nationally in assist-to-turnover ratio at 3.6, improving to 4.0 during conference games.
Other award recipients included Jalin Holland and Ian Inman for Most Improved Player, with Holland also earning Best Defender honors. Bangot Dak received both Most Inspirational Player and shared the Tebo Family P.A.S.S. Award with Nick Randall. The Tebo Family P.A.S.S. Award recognizes perseverance, attitude, selflessness, and success.
The Buffaloes are set to compete as the eleventh seed at the upcoming Big 12 Championship in Kansas City against Oklahoma State on March 10.
