Colorado Buffaloes men’s basketball will host the Utah Utes on Wednesday, January 7, at the CU Events Center in Boulder. The game is scheduled to tip off at 7:01 p.m. Mountain Time and will be broadcast on ESPN+ with Mark Johnson and Scott Wilke calling the action. Fans can also listen to the game on KOA 850 AM & 94.1 FM, as well as Sirius XM channel 381 and SXM App 971.

The Buffaloes enter the matchup with an overall record of 11-3 and are 1-0 in Big 12 Conference play after defeating Arizona State 95-89 on January 3. That win marked Colorado’s first true road victory since March 9, 2024, ending an eleven-game losing streak in such games. It was also only their third win in a Big 12 Conference opener out of seventeen attempts.

During the Arizona State game, Colorado scored its highest total points (95) and most first-half points (48) in a road conference contest since January 24, 2024. The team made 32 free throws, their most in a true road game since making 33 against UNLV on January 3, 1977.

Freshman Isaiah Johnson led Colorado with 19 points, hitting seven of eight from the free throw line. Sophomore Sebastian Rancik added a career-high performance at the line by making twelve of fourteen attempts for eighteen points. Junior Bangot Dak achieved his third career double-double with twelve points and ten rebounds.

Utah arrives in Boulder with an overall record of 8-6 after losing its conference opener at home to No.1 Arizona by a score of 97-78. The Utes average nearly eighty-one points per game while shooting forty-seven percent from the field but allow opponents to score just under eighty points per contest.

Junior guard Terrence Brown leads Utah offensively with an average of twenty-one point eight points per game, ranking third in the Big 12 and twelfth nationally. He also tops his team in assists (4.1 per game), steals (1.86 per game), and has made eighty-nine free throws this season—leading the Big 12 and placing fourteenth nationally. Fifth-year guard Don McHenry (18.1) and junior forward Keanu Dawes (12.4) also average double figures for Utah; Dawes is notable for his defensive presence, averaging seven defensive rebounds per game—second-best in the conference.

This will be the sixty-fourth meeting between Colorado and Utah; Colorado holds a thirty-five to twenty-eight advantage overall and leads twenty-three to seven when playing in Boulder. Last season’s only matchup saw Utah win seventy-two to fifty-nine in Salt Lake City; however, Colorado won two out of three meetings during their final year competing together in the Pac-12.
