Colorado will face Colorado State in the Rocky Mountain Showdown on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Moby Arena in Fort Collins. The Buffaloes are currently undefeated at 8-0, marking their best season start in 76 years. Their last similar start was during the 1949-50 season when they also went 8-0. The school record for consecutive wins to begin a season is 14, set by the 1941-42 team that reached the NCAA Final Four.

Colorado’s offense has been performing well, ranking second in the Big 12 Conference for three-point shooting percentage (.416) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.8). They are third in field goal percentage (.509) and fourth in scoring with an average of 88.8 points per game. Nationally, they stand sixth in three-point percentage and nineteenth in assist-to-turnover ratio.

The Buffaloes have shown strength at the free throw line, making an average of 21.9 free throws per game and attempting nearly 29.1 per contest—ranking eighth and eleventh nationally among NCAA Division I teams.

Their current eight-game winning streak is their longest since late last season when they won eight straight games and set a school record with 26 victories overall. If Colorado defeats Colorado State on Saturday, it would be their ninth consecutive win—a mark that would place them among the top ten winning streaks in program history.

At least four Colorado players have scored double figures in each of their eight games this year; five players achieved this feat four times so far this season. Freshman Isaiah Johnson led with a high of 24 points against Montana State, while sophomore Sebastian Rancik matched that total versus Eastern Washington. Junior Bangot Dak has led scoring twice this year.

Bangot Dak was named most valuable player at the Acrisure Holiday Classic after averaging 14 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and two-and-a-half blocks without any turnovers over two games. He recorded his first career double-double during the championship game.

Junior Barrington Hargress leads Colorado with an average of 5.1 assists per game and ranks ninth in the Big 12 for assists per contest while maintaining a strong assist-to-turnover ratio of 3.4—fourth-best in conference play.

Sophomore Sebastian Rancik is second on the team for both scoring (13 points per game) and rebounding (5.4 rebounds), leading Colorado with an impressive free throw percentage of 87.5%.

Bench production has been significant for Colorado this season; reserves contribute more than a third of total points scored each game (35.4 bench points per outing), which is second-best among Big 12 teams and ranks twenty-eighth nationally.

Freshman Isaiah Johnson is leading all scorers from off the bench with an average of just over fifteen points per game while shooting above fifty-seven percent from the field.

Graduate Elijah Malone leads all Buffaloes players by shooting sixty-four percent from the field this year; he averages over eight points along with more than five rebounds per contest.

Colorado State enters Saturday’s matchup with a record of six wins and two losses after competing at Battle 4 Atlantis last week in the Bahamas. The Rams lead all NCAA Division I teams in three-point shooting accuracy at forty-five percent and are third nationally for free throw percentage (81.4%). Sophomore forward Kyle Jorgensen paces CSU with nearly fifteen points per game.

Saturday’s meeting will be the one hundred thirty-third between these programs; Colorado holds a ninety-three to thirty-nine advantage historically against Colorado State and has won four out of their last five matchups.
