The Colorado Buffaloes men’s basketball team is preparing for a significant home game against No. 14 ranked Texas Tech on Saturday, January 10, 2026. The matchup will take place at the CU Events Center in Boulder, with tipoff scheduled for 5:05 p.m. Mountain Time. The game will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network and available via radio on KOA 850 AM & 94.1 FM as well as online platforms Sirius XM 383 and the SXM App.
Fans attending the game are encouraged to participate in a “Gold Rush” by wearing gold attire. Fernando Lovo, Colorado’s new athletic director, will sit in the student section during the game as part of his efforts to engage with the university community.
At halftime, former Buffaloes standout Alec Burks will be honored with the unveiling of his No. 10 jersey on the Men’s Basketball Wall of Honor. The display recognizes former players who have made significant contributions beyond their college careers, including those with at least five years in the NBA or an Olympic gold medal. Burks was named Big 12 Freshman of the Year in 2009-10 and went on to a lengthy professional career after being selected by the Utah Jazz in the first round of the NBA Draft.
Colorado enters the contest with a record of 12-3 overall and a 2-0 mark in conference play following an 85-73 victory over Utah in its league home opener. This start matches their win total from last season’s regular schedule and marks only their third time starting conference play at 2-0 since joining the Big 12.
Recent performances have seen Colorado excel at free throws, making more than 90 percent from the line in three of their last five games. Key contributors include Alon Michaeli (perfect from the line), Sebastian Rancik (over 91 percent), Isaiah Johnson (over 90 percent), and Bangot Dak (over 92 percent). In their latest win, Dak posted a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds, while Rancik scored a perfect nine-for-nine from the field for a total of 19 points.
Texas Tech arrives in Boulder with an overall record of 11-4 and is ranked No.14 nationally despite coming off a road loss to Houston. The Red Raiders average nearly 84 points per game and lead their conference in three-pointers made per contest while shooting nearly 38 percent from beyond the arc. Junior forward JT Toppin leads Texas Tech with averages that place him among national leaders in both scoring (20.9) and rebounding (10.9). Sophomore guard Christian Anderson also stands out as he leads the Big 12 in assists.
This meeting marks only the second between these teams since Colorado left for another conference after the schools’ previous encounter in Boulder back in March of 2010—a game which Colorado won decisively. Overall, Colorado leads Texas Tech by four games all-time and has been particularly successful when playing at home.
