The No. 56 Colorado Buffaloes women’s tennis team will return home for two Big 12 Conference matches, hosting No. 53 Brigham Young University on Thursday and No. 44 University of Utah on Saturday, according to a March 17 announcement.

These upcoming matches are important as the Buffaloes look to improve their standing in the conference with seven matches remaining in the season. The team recently lost two conference matchups, falling 4-1 to then-No. 20 University of Central Florida and 4-0 to then-No. 36 University of Houston.

Junior Pia Rebec has earned a spot in the national singles rankings at No. 120, holding an 18-8 record this season while primarily playing at the No. 3 position for Colorado. She is the first Buffaloes player ranked in singles since Aya El Sayed in 2024.

“Our team is very excited to be back home this weekend,” said head coach Anthony Pham. “We understand that with seven matches left in the conference season, every match holds a great deal of importance, so we will control what we can and put our best foot forward.”

Colorado has struggled historically against BYU, with a record of three wins and twenty-one losses all-time against the Cougars. Their last victory over BYU came in Boulder in a nonconference match in 2021 by a score of 4-1. This season, BYU holds a record of thirteen wins and four losses overall, including two wins and three losses within the conference. The Cougars’ doubles pair Grace Levelston and Kendall Kovick are ranked No. 61 nationally with a current record of nine wins and one loss.

Against Utah, Colorado has fourteen wins and twenty-four losses all-time, with their most recent win also coming at home in Boulder during the 2021 season by a score of 4-1. Utah enters this week’s matchup with ten wins and five losses overall (three wins and two losses in conference play). The Utes have notable victories over BYU, West Virginia (4-0), and Cincinnati (4-1) this season. Utah’s Emma Kamper is ranked No.121 nationally in singles with an eleven-win, one-loss record.

“We know we can put ourselves in a position to have success,” said Pham. “Both BYU and Utah are great teams, and we look forward to taking advantage of those opportunities this weekend.”

The match against BYU is scheduled for Thursday at noon Mountain Time, followed by Saturday’s contest against Utah at one p.m.
