The Colorado women’s basketball team secured a 62-53 victory over third-seeded Baylor in the quarterfinals of the 2026 Phillips 66 Big 12 Women’s Basketball Tournament at T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri. The win ended an 11-game losing streak against Baylor and advanced Colorado to the tournament semifinals.

Colorado established an early lead with several three-point shots in the first quarter, maintaining a double-digit advantage through halftime. Despite attempts by Baylor to close the gap in the second half, Colorado held on for the win.

“Really proud of how we played tonight. I thought we were very prepared and very excited for this opportunity,” head coach JR Payne said. “Sometimes in the Big 12, when you only get to play someone once, and in that one time, you don’t perform the way you wish you had, sometimes you don’t get to play that game again for an entire year. So this was a really great opportunity for us because we were frustrated with the way we finished the one game we did play with Baylor this year. We were just really excited for the opportunity to play them again. Just overall great team effort. It wasn’t perfect in any sense of the word, but I thought we did exactly what we needed to do to be successful.”

Statistically, Colorado outperformed Baylor in several categories: bench points (32-24), defensive rebounds (25-23), second-chance points (9-5), fast break points (9-0), assists (11-10), and steals (7-5). The Buffaloes also limited Baylor to a season-low 14% from three-point range.

Key performances included Desiree Wooten’s 21 points, five rebounds, and three assists; Zyanna Walker’s 19 points and four rebounds; Logyn Greer’s nine points; Jade Masogayo’s six rebounds; Anaëlle Dutat’s six rebounds and three steals; Tabitha Betson’s three points and one steal; and contributions from other team members off the bench.

For Baylor, Taliah Scott led with 14 points.

This result moves Colorado’s all-time record against Baylor to 9-15 overall and marks their first conference tournament win over them. The Buffaloes now hold a 12-15 record in Big 12 Tournament games and have advanced to their fourth semifinal appearance in tournament history.

Head Coach JR Payne’s career record improves to 186 wins and 126 losses.

Next, Colorado will face No. 15 West Virginia on Saturday evening at T-Mobile Center. The teams have not previously met in Big 12 Tournament play, though West Virginia leads their all-time series against Colorado two games to one.
