The Colorado men’s golf team finished the opening round of the 2026 NCAA Bryan Regional in seventh place on May 18, posting a team score of one-under-par 287 at Traditions Club.
The result places Colorado five strokes behind Tennessee, which currently holds the final qualifying spot for advancement to the NCAA Championship. Only the top five teams from each regional move forward.
Head coach Roy Edwards said, “Guys did a good job of hanging in the round despite not having our best stuff early on. We are definitely right there in the mix. We just need to worry about ourselves and our jobs and we will be good.” The Buffaloes were led by Brandon Knight and Ty Holbrook, who both shot one-under-par rounds of 71 and are tied for twentieth individually. Parker Paxton posted an even-par 72, while Hunter Swanson added a one-over-par 73 with four birdies. Jackson Rivera rounded out Colorado’s lineup with an 83.
Edwards praised his players’ resilience throughout their rounds: “Brandon made a lot of birdies but had one hiccup on No. 9,” he said. “He did a great job responding to that. Ty was very consistent and steady.” As a team, Colorado recorded sixteen birdies during steady play on the back nine.
Looking ahead to Tuesday’s second round, Colorado will make a lineup change as Tyler Long replaces Rivera. Due to forecasted weather expected later in the week, tournament officials have scheduled thirty-six holes for Tuesday instead of spreading play over two days.
Edwards summarized his team’s approach moving forward: “Just kept our composure and stuck to our individual jobs.” Play is set to begin at 7 a.m., with Paxton leading off for Colorado at 8:25 a.m.
