Colorado will play its first game in West Virginia as part of its ongoing season, facing the Mountaineers at Hope Coliseum in Morgantown on Saturday, January 17. The matchup is scheduled to tip off at 4:05 p.m. MT and will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network. Fans can also listen on KHOW 630 AM or online via Sirius XM.

The Buffaloes currently hold a 12-5 record overall and are 2-2 in Big 12 conference play after a recent loss to Cincinnati. Earlier this month, Colorado began league play with two consecutive wins, marking the third time they have achieved such a start in Big 12 history.

Colorado has equaled its win total from last season’s regular schedule and is one victory away from matching last year’s conference wins. The team’s offense has performed well nationally, leading the Big 12 and ranking 16th in the country for free throw shooting at 78 percent. The Buffaloes also rank within the top 50 nationally for free throws made, field goal percentage, and assist-to-turnover ratio.

Scoring contributions have been spread across the roster, with at least four players reaching double figures in most games this season. Freshman Isaiah Johnson leads Colorado in scoring despite coming off the bench for all games so far. He averages 16.1 points per game—third among NCAA Division I bench players—and has recorded four games with over twenty points.

Johnson also leads the team in several statistical categories including free throws made and attempted, three-pointers made, and steals. Junior Barrington Hargress tops the team in assists while maintaining a high assist-to-turnover ratio that ranks among national leaders.

Other notable contributors include sophomore Sebastian Rancik, who is second on the team for rebounding and free throw percentage; junior forward Bangot Dak, who leads Colorado in rebounds and blocks; and freshman Alon Michaeli, who averages nearly ten points per game off the bench.

According to current NET rankings through January 14, Colorado sits at No. 71 nationally.

West Virginia enters the contest with an 11-6 record (2-2 Big 12) after a loss to Houston. The Mountaineers average just over seventy-three points per game while allowing opponents only sixty-three points on average—a defensive mark that ranks them seventh nationally. Senior guard Honor Huff leads West Virginia’s scoring efforts by averaging more than seventeen points per game and leading both his team and conference in three-point attempts and makes.

This meeting marks only the third time Colorado and West Virginia have played each other in men’s basketball; last season saw both teams split their series matchups during regular season play and tournament action.
