Colorado’s track and field team posted several strong performances on March 20 during the first day of the Dr. Dan Caprioglio Invitational in Pueblo, Colorado. The event marked the start of the outdoor season for the Buffaloes, with multiple athletes earning podium spots and setting new marks in program history.
The meet is significant as it provides an early measure of form for Colorado’s throwers and sets a competitive tone for the rest of the outdoor season.
Lucas Williams led the men’s team by finishing third in the hammer throw with a personal-best distance of 190-01, which moved him to ninth place all-time in Colorado program history. On the women’s side, Alaina Fantaski achieved a personal best in the javelin with a throw of 152-06, securing third place and moving up to fourth all-time at Colorado. Amanda Opp also contributed with a runner-up finish in the women’s hammer throw, reaching 178-03. Gustavo Alfonso placed second in the men’s javelin after throwing 208-08.
