The Colorado track and field team will travel to Boston for the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, with men’s events scheduled for Friday, Feb. 13, and women’s events on Saturday, Feb. 14. The competition will take place at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center.

This meet is significant as it provides an opportunity for both men’s and women’s teams to compete against strong national fields ahead of upcoming championship events.

On Friday, Antonio Votour will represent Colorado in the men’s 60-meter hurdles, Jake Liebert in the men’s 5,000 meters, and Lucas Williams in the men’s weight throw. Saturday’s events include Avery Pearson in the women’s 800 meters and Amanda Opp in the women’s weight throw. According to event organizers, Colorado’s competitions begin at 7:00 a.m. Mountain Time on Friday and at 3:45 p.m. Mountain Time on Saturday.

The Colorado men’s team currently ranks 24th nationally according to USTFCCCA rankings. The squad holds first place in the men’s mile with an average time of 3:53.82 and third place in the men’s 3,000 meters with an average time of 7:51.43. Key athletes include Isaiah Givens (No.1 nationally in the mile), Justine Kipkoech (No.5 nationally in the mile), and Dominic Serem (No.12 nationally in the men’s 3k).

In their previous home meet on Feb. 6-7, several Buffaloes achieved top-10 program marks: Antonio Votour set a new third-fastest time for CU in the men’s 60m hurdles; Ernest Campbell became ninth fastest all-time for CU in the men’s 60m; Justine Kipkoech posted a converted mile time that placed him second all-time at CU; Danny Tragarz moved up to second all-time for CU in the men’s 400m; Ty Cook broke CU’s program record for the men’s 800m.

Looking ahead, Colorado will host its senior day during the Last Chance meet on Friday, Feb. 20—the final competition before heading to Lubbock, Texas for the Big 12 Indoor Championships later this month.
