The Colorado track and field team will travel to Boston to participate in the John Thomas Terrier Classic on Jan. 30 and Jan. 31 at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center, according to a Jan. 29 announcement. The women’s events are scheduled for Friday, while the men’s events will take place on Saturday.

This meet is significant as it provides an opportunity for both teams to compete against national talent and improve their standings ahead of upcoming competitions. Live results will be available through cubuffs.com/tracklive, with additional meet information provided at cubuffs.com/meetinfo. Fans can also watch the event on FloTrack.

On Friday, Riley Burkey and Avery Pearson will represent Colorado in the women’s 800 meters, while Mia Larochelle competes in the women’s 3,000 meters. Abbey Nechanicky, Ella Hagen, and Juliette Forstrom are set to run in the women’s 5,000 meters. Saturday’s men’s lineup includes Drew Costelow and Jaxson Cook in the men’s 800 meters; Lukas Haug, Kole Mathison, Grady Rauba, TJ Hansen, Isaiah Givens, Tanner Newkirk, and Charles Robertson in the men’s 3,000 meters; and Dean Casey along with James Overberg in the men’s 5,000 meters.

The Colorado men’s track and field team currently holds first place nationally for the men’s mile with an average time of 3:54.29. As a team overall, they are ranked eleventh in the nation. Individual rankings include Isaiah Givens (No. 1), TJ Hansen (No. 9), Lukas Haug (No. 12), Kole Mathison (No. 5), Justine Kipkoech (No. 6) for the men’s mile, while Dominic Serem is ranked eighth nationally in the men’s 3,000 meters.

In their previous outing on Jan. 23-24 during a home indoor meet in Boulder, Amanda Opp and Lucas Williams each secured fourth place finishes in their respective weight throw events. On Jan. 24 track events saw Justine Kipkoech make his debut for Colorado by posting one of program’s top times—third fastest all-time—and sixth best this season nationally for the men’s mile.

Looking ahead, Colorado will host its next competition—the Colorado Classic—at Ford Practice Facility on Feb. 6-7.
