The Colorado track and field team will participate in the Jack Christiansen Invitational in Fort Collins, hosted by Colorado State University, on March 27–28.
The event is set to begin Friday at 10 a.m., with the Buffaloes starting their competition Saturday at 10:45 a.m. The meet will be streamed live on the Mountain West Network on Saturday only, and live results will be available through cubuffs.com/tracklive.
For the men’s events, Joran Ball is entered in the 200 meters, Jameson Leigh in the 400 meters, Kimi Bulto in the 800 meters, Teagan Malcom and Danny Tragarz in the 400-meter hurdles, Lucas Williams in both discus and hammer throw, and three different teams are listed for the men’s 4×400 meter relay. On the women’s side, Riley Burkey is set for the 400 meters; Olivia Sheridan and Layla Driscoll for the 1500 meters; Linda Weigang, Georgia Bell, and Beana Winchell for the 5000 meters; Abby Miller for the 400-meter hurdles; two teams for women’s 4×400 meter relay; Alaina Fantaski for shot put; and Amanda Opp for hammer throw.
In their last outing at Pueblo’s Dr. Dan Caprioglio Invitational to open outdoor season, Colorado saw notable performances from its throws group. Lucas Williams achieved a personal best of 190-01 feet in hammer throw to finish third—placing him ninth all-time at Colorado. Alaina Fantaski recorded her own personal best of 152-06 feet in javelin to take third place and move up to fourth all-time at Colorado. Amanda Opp finished second overall with a mark of 178-03 feet in hammer throw.
On track events during that meet, Teagan Malcom won his race with a time of 52.58 seconds in the men’s 400-meter hurdles while Ernest Campbell secured third place with a season-opening time of 10.35 seconds in men’s sprints.
