The Colorado track and field team will return to Boulder to host the Colorado Classic on Friday, Feb. 6, and Saturday, Feb. 7. Field events are scheduled for Friday at the Ford Practice Facility, with track events taking place on Saturday.
The event marks an opportunity for the Buffaloes to compete at home after recent travel. The meet will feature a range of events including shot put, weight throw, sprints, middle-distance races, hurdles, and relays for both men and women. Friday’s schedule includes women’s shot put with Alaina Fantaski competing, men’s weight throw featuring Lucas Williams, and women’s weight throw with Amanda Opp. On Saturday, athletes such as Johnny Homsy (men’s 60m and 200m), Joran Ball (men’s 400m), Abby Miller (women’s 400m), Kimi Bulto (men’s 800m), Riley Burkey (women’s 800m), Lukas Haug (men’s mile), Georgia Bell (women’s 3000m), Antonio Votour (men’s hurdles), and several relay teams will participate.
Recent NCAA Division I rankings show Isaiah Givens leading the men’s mile nationally with a time of 3:51.73. Dominic Serem is ranked No. 13 in the men’s 3,000 meters with a time of 7:45.61, while Kole Mathison holds No. 16 in the men’s mile at 3:54.87.
At their last competition in Boston during the John Thomas Terrier Classic on Jan. 30-31, several Buffaloes achieved personal bests or entered program top-10 lists across various events including Riley Burkey in the women’s 800 meters and Ella Hagen setting an Austrian U-20 indoor record in the women’s 5k.
Looking ahead, Colorado athletes will split Valentine’s Day weekend between meets at Boston University and Texas Tech from Feb. 13-14.
