The Colorado women’s basketball team secured a 73-63 victory over Houston on Wednesday at the Fertitta Center. The Buffaloes, now holding a 17-8 record overall and 8-5 in Big 12 play, maintained control throughout the game, leading by nine points at halftime and extending their advantage to as many as 13 in the third quarter. Despite a late push from Houston, Colorado finished strong to earn its third consecutive road win.
Head coach JR Payne commented on the team’s performance: “I told the team, everybody wants to just play a game, get up by 20 and cruise home, and that’s not realistic, certainly against a team like Houston who continue to fight and compete for every second of the game. It wasn’t beautiful down the stretch, but I’m really proud of our team for their cohesion and their ability to execute some things. To do what they had to do to secure a win against a really tough, scrappy team on the road is not easy to do. So, I’m really proud of our ball club for that.”
Colorado outperformed Houston in several statistical categories including points in the paint (60-22), bench points (31-16), rebounds (41-32), assists (20-9), and steals (11-10).
Senior forward Jade Masogayo led Colorado with 20 points along with three rebounds, two blocks, two assists, and one steal. Senior forward Anaëlle Dutat recorded her fifth career double-double with 13 rebounds and 12 points, adding three steals and one assist. Junior guard Desiree Wooten contributed 14 points, four assists, three rebounds, and two steals.
Freshman forward Logyn Greer scored 11 points with four rebounds and three assists. Junior guard Zyanna Walker added eight points while freshman guard Erianna Gooden grabbed six rebounds.

With this result, Colorado improves its all-time record against Houston to 4-1. The Buffs also move to an all-time mark of 117-154 in Big 12 conference play.
