The Colorado women’s basketball team secured a 75-68 victory over No. 20 Texas Tech at the CU Events Center on Saturday, improving their record to 20-8 overall and 11-5 in Big 12 play. The game was closely contested, featuring 13 lead changes and 10 ties before Colorado pulled ahead in the final quarter.
Head coach JR Payne commented on the team’s performance: “I’m just really excited with how we played tonight on senior night. You always want to win, we always want to play well, but to do it on senior night against a ranked team in the way that we did, to finish so strong and have so many people contribute. I haven’t seen the stats, but I think we had a really balanced scoring night with many different people contributing in double figures, and our effort on the glass was unbelievable. It’s really cool that we could get the win for our seniors, and now we have just one more home game. Great effort by our ball club.”
Colorado outperformed Texas Tech in several statistical categories including bench points (32-23), points off turnovers (27-18), rebounds (34-18), steals (13-9), and second chance points (17-2). The Buffaloes’ defense contributed significantly with a total of 13 steals.
Key contributors for Colorado included junior guard Zyanna Walker with 18 points, three steals, and three rebounds; junior guard Desiree Wooten who recorded five steals along with 16 points, six assists, and five rebounds; freshman forward Logyn Greer who added 13 points; senior forward Anaëlle Dutat who scored 11 points and collected eight rebounds; senior forward Jade Masogayo with seven points; sophomore forward Tabitha Betson also with seven points; freshman guard Erianna Gooden finishing with three points; and junior guard Maeve McErlane providing an assist.

With this result, Colorado improves its all-time record against Texas Tech to 7-19. In Big 12 play overall, Colorado stands at 120 wins and 154 losses. This marks Colorado’s third win over a ranked opponent this season as well as their longest winning streak of five games.
