The Colorado women’s basketball team secured a narrow 80-79 victory over No. 14 TCU at the CU Events Center on Sunday, improving their season record to 16-8 and 7-5 in Big 12 play. The Buffaloes had a strong start, scoring 28 points in the first quarter and leading by eight. TCU managed to tie the game by halftime and took a five-point lead into the final quarter.
Colorado regained momentum in the closing minutes, with senior forward Jade Masogayo delivering a decisive three-point play with two seconds left to clinch the win for the Buffaloes.
Head coach JR Payne commented on her team’s performance: “What a resilient group we have here to take a team like that down the stretch, down eight, two separate times. Our execution, aggressive mindset, and ability to make big plays. So many people made big plays tonight. Jade [Masogayo] was obviously incredible down the stretch. Logyn [Greer] was incredible. Lots of different people made winning plays tonight, offensively and defensively. I thought the defensive effort from AD [Anaëlle Dutat] was incredible on Donovyn Hunter, having to play for 90 feet most of the game, and Zyanna [Walker] guarding Olivia Miles most of the night. Just great team effort. I’m really, really happy about this one.”
Statistically, Colorado outperformed TCU in several categories including bench points (36-7), fast break points (14-11), assists (14-10), steals (6-5), and three-point shooting percentage (46% compared to TCU’s 35%).
Senior forward Jade Masogayo led Colorado with a career-high 23 points along with three rebounds, two steals, and an assist while drawing nine fouls and converting nine of ten free throws.
Freshman forward Logyn Greer contributed 17 points off the bench along with five rebounds and three assists. Junior guard Desiree Wooten added 19 points and six assists while shooting perfectly from the free throw line.
Junior guard Zyanna Walker scored 15 points with four steals for Colorado.
For TCU, Olivia Miles finished as top scorer with 31 points.
With this result, Colorado improves its all-time record against TCU to 5-2 and moves to an overall Big 12 record of 116 wins and 154 losses. This marks Colorado’s first win over a top-15 opponent since January 25, 2025.
