The Colorado women’s basketball team will continue its road trip with a game against Kansas at Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence, Kansas, on February 1 at 1 p.m. MT. The Buffaloes hold a 14-7 overall record and are 5-4 in Big 12 play, while the Jayhawks are 13-9 overall and 3-7 in conference games.

This matchup marks the first meeting between Colorado and Kansas this season and the 71st time the programs have faced each other. In their last encounter, Colorado defeated Kansas 84-76 in Boulder on January 11, 2025. Historically, Kansas leads the series with a record of 36-34.

On January 29, Colorado secured its first road win of the season by defeating Kansas State 56-47. The Buffaloes took an early lead and maintained it throughout most of the game despite a comeback attempt from the Wildcats in the fourth quarter.

Head coach JR Payne is in her tenth year leading Colorado and has achieved a record of 178-123 as head coach. She has been extended through the 2028 season and has guided the program to three NCAA Tournament appearances, two WNIT appearances, and one WBIT appearance.

The team was projected to finish ninth in this year’s Big 12 Preseason Poll as it continues its second year back in the conference. Four players return from last season: senior forward Jade Masogayo, sophomore guard Kennedy Sanders, fifth-year center JoJo Nworie, and sophomore forward Tabitha Betson. Ten newcomers joined for the current season—five transfers and five freshmen—including junior guard Zyanna Walker (Kansas State), junior guard Desiree Wooten (North Texas), junior guard Claire O’Connor (Gonzaga), junior guard Maeve McErlane (DePaul), senior forward Anaëlle Dutat (Rhode Island), freshman guard Erianna Gooden (Arkansas/Northside H.S.), freshman center Jade Crook (Australia/Basketball Australia Center of Excellence), freshman guard Isa Hämäläinen (Luxembourg/European School of Luxembourg), freshman forward Logyn Greer (Pennsylvania/Friends’ Central School), and freshman forward Sophie Zadel (Texas/Alamo Heights H.S.).

Several players have made notable contributions so far this season:
– Junior guard Zyanna Walker is tied for third in conference steals per game with an average of 2.3.
– Senior forward Anaëlle Dutat ranks second in rebounds per game among Big 12 players with an average of 8.6.
– Senior forward Jade Masogayo holds a free throw percentage of nearly 76%, placing her among conference leaders.
– Freshman forward Logyn Greer is tied for seventeenth in blocks per game within the conference.
Against Kansas State on January 29, Walker recorded her first double-double of the season with thirteen points and ten rebounds; Dutat had eight rebounds; Masogayo scored thirteen points; Greer added eleven points; Wooten contributed eleven points as well.

As a team, Colorado is ranked third in rebounding margin (+6.8) within the Big 12 Conference.
