The Colorado women’s basketball team will play against No. 19 Iowa State on January 14 at the CU Events Center in Boulder. The game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. MT and will be broadcast on ESPN+ and the Colorado Radio Network, with live statistics available online.
Colorado, holding an 11-6 overall record and a 2-3 mark in Big 12 play, faces Iowa State (14-3, 2-3 Big 12) for the 69th time in program history. The Buffaloes lead the all-time series 37-31 but have lost their last two meetings against the Cyclones. Their most recent matchup was an 86-56 loss in Ames on February 8, 2025. This is Colorado’s first home game against Iowa State since a win in overtime in January 2011.
Last week, Colorado suffered road losses to then-No.16 Baylor and Oklahoma State. Against Baylor, the Buffs were within two points late before falling short, losing 56-52 on January 8. At Oklahoma State on January 11, they led much of the fourth quarter but ultimately lost after a late run by the Cowgirls.
Head coach JR Payne leads Colorado in her tenth season with a record of 175-122 as head coach and has been extended through the 2028 season. Under her leadership, the Buffs have made three NCAA appearances and several other postseason tournaments.
The current roster features four returning players from last season: sophomore forward Tabitha Betson (who returns after spending a semester at home), senior forward Jade Masogayo, sophomore guard Kennedy Sanders, and fifth-year center JoJo Nworie. The team added ten newcomers for this season—five transfers and five freshmen—expanding depth across positions.
Among notable performers this season:
– Junior guard Zyanna Walker ranks sixth in conference steals per game (2.2) and recorded her ninth double-digit scoring game with sixteen points against Baylor.
– Senior forward Anaëlle Dutat is third in conference rebounds per game (8.8), second for total rebounds (149), leads offensive rebounds (64), and recently posted her tenth career double-double at Oklahoma State.
– Senior forward Jade Masogayo and freshman forward Logyn Greer are tied for eighteenth in blocks per game (0.8). Both scored twelve points against Oklahoma State.
– Junior guard Desiree Wooten is among conference leaders for steals per game (1.6) and contributed six points along with four steals versus Oklahoma State.
As a team, Colorado ranks high within the Big 12 for several statistical categories including third in steals per game (10.94) and fourth in offensive rebounds per game (13.8).
Several players are approaching individual milestones ahead of Wednesday’s contest:
– Tabitha Betson needs sixteen points to reach two hundred career points.
– Freshman center Jade Crook is twenty-three points away from one hundred.
– Logyn Greer is ten rebounds shy of one hundred.
– Jade Masogayo needs eight more steals to reach one hundred career steals.
– Maeve McErlane requires eleven more rebounds to hit one hundred.
Coach Payne commented on Wooten’s transfer decision: “Wooten chose CU for its great culture, development opportunities and new beginnings.” On Dutat’s background: “Sr. F Anäelle Dutat was born and raised in France until coming to America to play basketball at the University of Rhode Island.”
