The Colorado women’s basketball team will host No. 14/12 TCU at the CU Events Center in Boulder on Sunday, February 8, with tip-off scheduled for 1:02 p.m. MT. The Buffaloes enter the game with a 15-8 overall record and a 6-5 mark in Big 12 play, while TCU holds a 21-3 record and is 9-2 in conference.
Colorado has not beaten TCU since rejoining the Big 12 Conference. Their last meeting was in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Championship on March 7, 2025, where Colorado lost by seven points, 69-62. The Buffs’ most recent win over TCU at home came in March 2014.
Earlier this week, Colorado faced No. 20 West Virginia in a closely contested game that saw nine lead changes and no double-digit leads by either team. Both teams struggled offensively in the third quarter before West Virginia pulled away late to secure a 61-55 victory.
Head coach JR Payne is leading her tenth season with Colorado and has been extended through the 2028 season. Under her leadership, the program has reached three NCAA tournaments, two WNIT appearances, and one WBIT appearance.
This season marks Colorado’s second year back in the Big 12 Conference after being picked to finish ninth in the preseason poll. The Buffs have an all-time conference record of 115-154.
The roster features four returning players from last season: senior forward Jade Masogayo, sophomore guard Kennedy Sanders, fifth-year center JoJo Nworie, and sophomore forward Tabitha Betson. Ten newcomers joined for the current campaign—five transfers and five freshmen—highlighting additions such as junior guard Zyanna Walker from Kansas State and senior forward Anaëlle Dutat from Rhode Island.
Walker has made significant contributions this season and is tied for third in steals per game (2.3) within the conference while ranking among leaders for free throw percentage and assists per game. She recently earned recognition as part of the Big 12 Starting Five after standout performances against Kansas State and Kansas that included a career-high scoring effort and a double-double.
Dutat ranks third in rebounds per game (8.3) across the conference and leads all players in offensive rebounds per game (3.7). Masogayo is among league leaders for free throw percentage and blocks per game; she contributed double-digit points against West Virginia earlier this week.
Junior guard Desiree Wooten is also ranked among conference leaders for both points per game (12.1) and steals per game (1.6).
As a team, Colorado stands fourth in rebounding margin (6.3), steals per game (10.39), offensive rebounds per game (13.6), sixth in scoring defense (60.3), seventh in total rebounds per game (38.8), turnover margin (2.17), and free throw percentage (72.9%).

Coach Payne said pregame interviews are part of every broadcast: “The pregame show, Buffs Warm-up, starts a half-hour before tip and includes a pregame interview with Coach Payne.”
Several individual milestones are within reach during upcoming games: freshman center Jade Crook needs just over twenty points to reach one hundred; Dutat is approaching both seven hundred career points and nine hundred rebounds; Masogayo nears six hundred career rebounds; McErlane approaches two hundred career points; Walker is close to eight hundred career points; Wooten nears two hundred assists.
Sophomore forward Tabitha Betson returned recently after time away from competition following her selection as Big 12 Preseason Freshman of the Year.
