The Board of Elbert County Commissioners has decided not to move forward with a proposed pause on certain residential development applications. This decision comes after four months of discussion about the potential benefits and drawbacks of such a measure.

Byron McDaniel, Chairman of the Board, stated, “We have agreed to amplify our focus on the Comprehensive Plan Update process, currently underway, as well as on the update to our land use regulations, concurrent with the management of existing and new land use applications. We are, and always have been, open for business.”

The board will continue its work on updating both the county’s comprehensive plan and its land use regulations while processing current and future development applications.
