Beginning in February 2026, the Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) will implement a major system upgrade to introduce a secure online portal and personal dashboard for customers. This new platform will allow users to manage vehicles, licenses, personal information, and correspondence.

To facilitate this transition, there will be temporary closures affecting both online services and physical offices. Residents are encouraged to complete any pending driver or vehicle transactions at mydmv.colorado.gov before the upgrade begins. Online DMV services will be unavailable after the evening of Friday, February 13, and are expected to resume on Tuesday, February 17.

In addition to these changes, all state offices—including the Elbert County Motor Vehicle Office—will be closed on Monday, February 16 in observance of Presidents’ Day. The Elbert County Motor Vehicle Office will also remain closed on Tuesday, February 17 for staff training and final system checks related to the new system. The office plans to reopen with limited appointments on Wednesday, February 18 as staff adapts to the upgraded platform. Further details about appointment availability will be provided when possible.

“We appreciate your patience during this short pause, as the State prepares to launch their system upgrade,” officials stated.
