Elbert County has announced five different ways for property owners to pay their property taxes. The county is encouraging those who pay taxes directly, rather than through a mortgage company, to consider the available options.

Property owners can now pay online using a credit card, debit card, or e-check at www.payments.municipay.com/co_elbert/search/4b8a912e. There is a third-party convenience fee for this method. For more information, residents are advised to call 303-621-3120 or email treasurer@elbertcounty-co.gov.

A new monthly payment option has been introduced to help reduce the financial impact of making lump-sum payments twice a year. More details about this option are available at https://escrowtaxes.com/.

Those who prefer to pay in person can visit the Elbert County Treasurer’s Office at 440 Comanche Street in Kiowa. Payments can be made by check, cash, or credit card; however, a third-party convenience fee applies when using a credit card. Property taxes may be paid in one full installment by April 30 or in two installments: the first half is due by the last day of February and the second half by June 15.

Payments can also be mailed using the address on the tax statement payment stub. The Treasurer’s Office will return late payments as required by Colorado law if interest accrues, so mailing early is recommended to avoid delays and added costs.

Additionally, there is a drop box located on the east side of the Treasurer’s Office building at 440 Comanche Street in Kiowa for those wishing to deliver payments without entering the office.
