Elbert County’s Board of County Commissioners has expressed condolences to the Town Board, staff, and the Kiowa community following the death of Mayor Theresa Howard. In a statement, the board recognized Mayor Howard’s commitment to Kiowa and her role in regional cooperation.

“Mayor Howard was a tireless advocate for Kiowa and a valuable partner in regional cooperation. Our prayers for comfort and peace are with her family and friends. We share in your grief and honor her memory,” said the commissioners.

The board’s message emphasized solidarity with those mourning Mayor Howard’s passing.
