Residents across Colorado are being affected by a statewide outage of the CodeRed notification system, according to an announcement from the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office. The system, which is used to send emergency alerts and important notifications, is currently not operational.

In response to the outage, the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office stated that it has several contingency plans in place to ensure communication with residents if necessary. These measures include providing updates through social media platforms, conducting door-to-door notifications when required, and issuing IPAWS alerts through partnerships with the Colorado Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management as well as the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

“Please know that we do have contingencies in place and will continue to keep the community informed. We will inform you when the outage is resolved,” said officials from the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office encourages residents to stay alert for updates via these alternative channels until CodeRed services are restored.
