Colorado native and two-time All-American goalkeeper Jordan Nytes has signed her first professional contract with Denver Summit FC, the club announced. The team is preparing for its inaugural season in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). Nytes becomes the 18th player named to the roster and is the second goalkeeper, joining veteran Abby Smith.

Nytes is also one of five Colorado natives on Denver Summit FC’s initial roster, alongside Jordan Baggett, Ally Watt, Janine Sonis, and Lindsey Heaps.

“For Jordi to have the opportunity to play in the inaugural season for Denver Summit FC, in her hometown, couldn’t be more perfect,” said Colorado Buffaloes head coach Danny Sanchez. “She has proven herself as a leader and All-American with us, and we have no doubt she will excel at the next level. Myself, and the rest of the staff couldn’t be prouder, and we are excited to support her on this journey.”

During her time at Colorado Buffaloes women’s soccer program, Nytes earned multiple honors including two United Soccer Coaches All-American awards. She was among the first players from CU to receive First Team status along with teammate Hope Leyba. In 2025 she was named a semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy Award and was recognized as Co-Big 12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She was also a three-time First Team All-Big 12 selection.

Curt Johnson, General Manager of Denver Summit FC stated: “Jordan represents everything we want to build at Denver Summit FC. She’s an elite goalkeeper, a proven leader, and a Colorado native who understands what soccer means to this community. Her success at Colorado and on the national stage makes her a cornerstone addition as we prepare for our inaugural season.”

Nytes set several records during her college career. In 2025 she set a single-season record for wins by a Buffs goalkeeper with 17 victories. She earned Big 12 Goalkeeper of the Year honors three times—twice consecutively—and achieved double-digit wins each season totaling 52 career wins at Colorado (ranking second in school history).

In postseason play she matched her career-high with 12 saves against Xavier in an NCAA Tournament win; finished fifth nationally with 121 saves that year; closed out third all-time in program history with 295 saves; ranked fourth overall averaging over four saves per game; recorded seven shutouts in her final year contributing to a school-record total of 26 clean sheets across 67 appearances.

Nytes began her collegiate career at Oklahoma State where she added six shutouts as a freshman before transferring to Colorado. Over four seasons combined between both programs she accumulated a .88 goals-against average and .831 save percentage over 84 starts.

Her conference recognition includes ten Big 12 Goalkeeper of the Week awards—the most since its creation in 2020-21—and two Pac-12 Goalkeeper of Week honors from earlier seasons.

Nytes now joins Taylor Flint (Kornieck) as one of two active CU alumni playing professionally in NWSL rosters after signing as a free agent following changes eliminating entry drafts within league policy.

Denver Summit FC begins their inaugural campaign March 14 away against Bay FC followed by their home opener March 28 versus Washington Spirit at Empower Field at Mile High.
