DOUGLAS COUNTY: Douglas County students invited to explore election themes through art

Pencils art 1000

Douglas County issued the following announcement on Aug. 10.

Just because your Douglas County student may not be able to vote doesn’t mean they can’t be engaged in the upcoming Presidential Election.

The Elections Division of the Douglas County Clerk and Recorder’s Office invites local youth to explore and express what America and our democratic process mean to them through art. All K-12 students residing in Douglas County are eligible to submit their original drawings, paintings, or graphic design pieces to the Election Year 2020 Student Art Contest.

Entries in four age divisions — each with a unique theme must be received by Sept. 18, 2020. First, second and third place winners will be selected in each category and winning pieces will be professionally displayed in Douglas County School District and Douglas County Government offices.

Interested students will electronically submit the contest entry form and a digital photo of their artwork to clerk@douglas.co.us. Divisions, themes and contest rules are outlined on the entry form.

Students without internet access or digital photo capability may call Douglas County Elections at 303-660-7444, to arrange for delivery of their artwork.
