All Seven Eligible Tigers Added to NCHC All-Academic Team

All seven eligible Colorado College hockey players, five freshmen and two transfers, were recognized for excellence in the classroom during the 2021-22 academic year and added to the National Collegiate Hockey Conference's Academic All-Conference Team. Six of the seven were also named NCHC Distinguished Scholar-Athletes.

Freshmen and first-year transfers were not eligible when the honors were first announced in February, as they had not completed a full academic year, but with the 2021-22 academic calendar complete, the newcomers are now eligible to earn NCHC academic honors.

The seven additions put 27 of CC's 28 rostered players on the Academic All-Conference team, tying Western Michigan for the most in the NCHC. With the six added as NCHC Distinguished Scholar-Athletes, CC's total of 18 topped the league.

The players added to the Academic All-Conference team were rising sophomores Brett Chorske, Stanley Cooley, Cooper Fensterstock, Tommy Middleton and Nate Schweitzer, as well as rising senior Noah Prokop, who transferred to CC from Omaha, and rising junior Danny Weight, a transfer from Boston College.

In addition, Chorske, Cooley, Middleton, Schweitzer, Prokop and Weight were named NCHC Distinguished Scholar-Athletes.

Colorado College finished the 2021-22 academic year with a 3.55 team GPA.

To be eligible for the NCHC Academic All-Conference Team, a student-athlete must compile a 3.0 cumulative grade-point average (or better) and have completed a full academic year at their current institution. Similarly, for NCHC Distinguished Scholar-Athletes, a student-athlete must attain a 3.5 cumulative GPA or better with a full year of academic studies.

In all, a record 186 NCHC student-athletes made the 2020-21 Academic All-Conference Team, as 136 sophomores, juniors and seniors were recognized on March 4. The previous high for total members on the NCHC Academic All-Conference Team was 180 in 2020-21. Along with that, 102 student-athletes overall were tabbed NCHC Distinguished Scholar-Athletes this past season, just shy of the record 109 in 2020-21.
