Tragarz leads Colorado with runner-up finish at Big 12 Championships

Colorado track and field finished competition on May 17 at the Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Championships, highlighted by Danny Tragarz’s second-place performance in the men’s 400-meter hurdles.

The results from this championship are significant for the Colorado Buffaloes as several athletes earned top finishes, helping to showcase the team’s depth ahead of upcoming national competitions.

Tragarz ran a time of 49.84 seconds in the men’s 400-meter hurdles, tying his altitude personal best and securing a runner-up medal in what was described as a hard-fought race. In other events, Avery Pearson placed seventh in the women’s 800 meters with a time of 2:06.79 during a closely contested final. James Overberg added another podium finish for Colorado by taking eighth place in the men’s 5000 meters with a time of 13:56.58.

Freshman Holly Barker also competed strongly, finishing thirteenth overall in the women’s 5000 meters with a time of 16:42.48. The team announced that Tragarz, Pearson, Overberg and several other Buffaloes will advance to compete at the NCAA West Regional starting May 27.
