Beginning February 11, the Supplemental Nutrition for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program will offer in-person services at the Elizabeth Library in Elbert County. The clinic will be open on the second Wednesday of each month from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., located at 651 W. Beverly Street.
The WIC program provides support for pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers with infants under one year old, and caregivers of children under five years old who need assistance affording nutritious foods such as fresh fruits and vegetables, milk, eggs, cheese, yogurt, and iron-fortified cereals.
Appointments are recommended for those interested in accessing these services. To schedule an appointment or determine eligibility for healthy food assistance, nutrition education, breastfeeding support, and other no-cost services through WIC, individuals can call 720-643-2401.
“WIC is available for eligible working families, foster parents, and single parents with children under the age of five,” according to information provided by organizers. More details about the program can be found at elbertcounty-co.gov/223/WIC.
