Snow is forecast to begin in Elbert County on Tuesday at around 9 p.m., with accumulations expected to reach between four and six inches across most areas. The heaviest snowfall is anticipated around sunrise Wednesday and may continue through the early afternoon, ending at approximately 3 p.m.
A rapid cold front is expected to move through Tuesday evening, following warmer daytime temperatures. This could lead to rapid freezing and create icy conditions beneath the new snow. Local officials warn that morning travel on Wednesday may be slow and hazardous due to slick roads.
Residents are encouraged to take several precautions ahead of the storm: “Stock vehicles with winter essentials (blanket, scraper, flashlight, snacks, water). Prepare for possible delays or closures. Make sure pets/livestock have shelter from wind & snow and food supplies. Check heating sources and have backup supplies ready. Stay aware of updated forecasts & county alerts,” according to guidance issued by Elbert County OEM.
Elbert County OEM stated it will continue monitoring weather conditions and provide updates as necessary. The public is urged to exercise caution during Wednesday’s morning commute.
