Snow and strong winds are expected to affect Elbert County starting Thursday, January 8, and continuing into Friday morning, January 9. The forecast includes snow accumulation, icy roads, blowing snow, and rapidly dropping temperatures. These conditions may lead to reduced visibility and slick roads during the Thursday evening and Friday morning commutes.

The Elbert County Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is monitoring the situation. Residents are advised: “Allow extra travel time or delay travel if possible,” “Slow down and increase following distance,” and “Watch for icy spots on bridges and shaded roads.”

Elbert County OEM stated it will provide updates as needed. Community members are encouraged to stay alert to weather changes and use caution while traveling.
