Colorado junior guard Zyanna Walker has been named to the Big 12 Women’s Basketball Starting Five as a Top Performer for the week, according to an announcement by the conference on Monday.
This is Walker’s first weekly recognition from the conference and also marks the first such honor for Colorado in the 2025-26 season. In a recent game against her former school, Kansas State, Walker recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. This was her first double-double of the season and second of her career. She also contributed four steals and two assists in that matchup.
Walker played a significant role in Colorado’s overtime win over Kansas on Sunday, where she scored a career-high 24 points along with four rebounds, three steals, two assists, and two blocks. Her performances were key to helping Colorado secure its first road sweep since the 2023-24 season.
Over the past week, Walker averaged 37.2 minutes per game while shooting 46.4% from the field. She posted averages of 18.5 points, seven rebounds, and 3.5 steals per game during this period. Within the Big 12 conference this season, she currently ranks third in steals per game at 2.3 and is twentieth in assists per game with an average of 2.9.
The Colorado women’s basketball team achieved its third consecutive victory on Sunday by defeating Kansas in overtime with a score of 69-66. The team now holds an overall record of 15-7 (6-4 Big 12) as they approach their final eight games of conference play this season.
Colorado will return home this week to host No. 20 West Virginia at CU Events Center on February 4 at 7 p.m. MT. The upcoming game will be available for streaming on ESPN+, with additional updates accessible through CUBuffs.com.
“Walker earns her first conference weekly recognition of her career, as well as the Buffs’ first in the 2025-26 season.”
